The Ford Motor Company is putting three Mustang cars on the auction block. One of them will be the first retail 2010 Ford Shelby GT500. GM and Chrysler Left behind as Ford Grows Market Share

Suddenly Ford Motor Company seems to be shining brither than ever.  Whether is has been their dedcation to improved quality or their passing on a Federal bail-out package; American consumers seem to be shifting their preference away from GM and Chrysler ove to Ford.  Through January, Ford Motor Co.’s retail-market share had risen for four consecutive months for the first time in 14 years, and that share was coming from General Motors and Chrysler. New data from CNW Market Research show that 19% of consumers who planned to buy a GM passenger car in January or February instead bought a Ford, Lincoln or Mercury. Some 15% of people who set out to buy a Chrysler or Dodge car in January instead switched to one of Ford’s brands.

2010 Ford F-150

With its newfound strength, Ford has also regained its ad swagger. The company is displaying a strong tone of confidence in its launch ads for the second-generation Ford Fusion midsize gas-powered sedan and first Fusion Hybrid.  Ford’s Matt Van Dyke, director-marketing communications, said the multimedia blitz, which includes four months of TV advertising that broke last week, targets the so-called “upper purchase funnel” of people who aren’t in the market for a vehicle.

Ford’s approach will allow it to build brand equity and demonstrate that when Americans are ready to buy, there will be a Ford in their future. Mr. McNaughton said he likes the straightforwardness of Fusion’s launch TV spots from WPP Group’s JWT Team Detroit, which highlight fuel efficiency and the vehicle’s Sync technology. “People don’t want dancing girls; they want facts and information.”

The 2009 Ford Fusion

The 2009 Ford Fusion is more than just a midsize sedan. This is one of the most interesting midsize sedans on the market today. It features an interior with plenty of room, a smooth ride with handling that can only be described as athletic, and all at an affordable and competitive price.

One of the most interesting things about the 2009 Ford Fusion is the optional SYNC system. This system, developed by Ford and Microsoft, provides plenty of interactivity with just about any sort of MP3 player device that you can use. It integrates fully with the vehicle, providing voice-activated commands for your music library. It also interacts with your cell phone, and is a major reason for you to consider the Ford Fusion.

The Fusion comes standard in 2009 with stability control, and has an optional all wiheel drive. The chassis was originally developed by Mazda, and helps to give a sport character to the vehicle. You can also add the Sport Appearance Package, making it a truly fun vehicle to drive.

New 2010 Ford Taurus Revealed

2010 Ford Taurus

2010 Ford Taurus

The all new 2010 Ford Taurus, will be on display this weekend at the Greater Kansas City International Auto Show in Bartle Hall.

The all-new design is decidedly upscale. There’s not a hint of the dowdy old style to be found. The exterior style is dominated by a sculpted hood, pronounced front fenders, and character line that runs front to back ending at the tall trailing edge of the rear fenders. The 2010, which goes on sale this summer, will be a flagship for the Ford brand. As such, it combines sophisticated styling with a new level of technology. Items such as adaptive cruise control with collision warning, a blind-spot information system, Sync, rain-sensing wipers, a voice-activated navigation system and the parent-programmable MyKey are some of the features that will be available. Ford said prices will start at $25,995, the same as the 2009 model.

The high-performance SHO Taurus is back, too, and it will have a 365-horsepower, twin-turbocharged V-6, all-wheel drive and a paddle-shift automatic transmission. Pricing will begin at $37,995.

The SHO package, with a Sony sound system, turns the sedate 265-horsepower standard Taurus into an American-made sports sedan with decent mileage.

“We’ll build to demand,” Said Mulally recently “I don’t expect a huge change in our product.” The handsomely restyled SHO will be available this summer at $37,995.

With overall January sales down 40 percent companywide from the same month a year ago, Ford also injected more excitement unveiling the 14th Harley-Davidson edition of its best-selling F-150 Series pickup.

Muscle Cars Still Popular among American Drivers

muscle carsWith all of the talk about hybrids and fuel-efficient vehicles, you may have thought the Ford Mustang was a goner. But at the recent Virginia International Auto Show, muscle cars made an impressive showing.

The auto show took place this weekend and it was almost like a step back in time with a number of models that were once popular. That includes the newly-designed 2010 Ford Mustang and other muscle cars that brought back memories to enthusiasts feeling nostalgic of the days when you could hear the car rev and squeal its tires halfway down the street.

Many people attending the show long for the days of getting behind the wheel of another muscle car. The 2010 Ford Mustang that appeared at the event. This particular car is a pre-production model and won’t be on sale until the summer of 2009.

Some may argue that it’s not a good idea to tout the popularity of muscle cars given the current crisis the domestic automakers find themselves in. However, according to auto show spokesman Elliot Tomaeno, “Americans still have a love affair with these vehicles.” He went on to say that people who enjoy these cars are not interested in fuel efficiency but rather the performance and speed that they offer.

A Look at the Ford SYNC System

One of the most compelling reasons to consider buying a Ford vehicle today is the revolutionary Ford SYNC system. Developed in conjunction with Microsoft, this system gives drivers an amazing number of ways to connect with their vehicle.

The SYNC system allows users to connect their portable music player with their vehicle. More than just an audio input jack, however, this system actually interacts with the MP3 player and imports playlists. It allows you to browse the music collection using simple voice commands.

It isn’t only music players that the SYNC system interacts with. In addition, it will “talk” to your Bluetooth enabled phone. YOu can use controls on the steering wheel to use your cell phone, hands free. IN addition, it can even convert your text messages to audio and read them aloud to you. It can use your phone’s features, such as caller ID, conference calling, call log and it even imports your phonebook.

Take a look at a vehicle with the SYNC system installed today. You’ll be amazed at how hard Ford has worked to keep you connected.

Ford Increases Hybrid Battery Production

ford dealerWould you ever believe that an SUV can get 120 miles per gallon? If not, keep reading because that’s exactly what the Ford Motor Company is working on.

The actual company manufacturing the new and more efficient hybrid batteries – Johnson Controls-Saft – is now sharing $30 million from the federal government to develop these products. Last week, the United States Department of Energy announced funding the project for $10 million each year for the next three years. This announcement came one day after the automaker announced it has a plug-in version of the Escape that gets 120 miles to the gallon. The manufacturer is working in conjunction with Ford to create batteries for Ford trucks and cars so this can be a reality instead of a futuristic theory.

The goal of the two companies is to make plug-in hybrids more affordable by 2014. With the competitiveness in the hybrid market, Ford plans to have less expensive plug-in hybrids on their lots not later than 2016.

As for the environment, Ford estimates that these newer vehicles would emit 60 percent less CO2 than gasoline-powered vehicles of similar size. But there are still a few obstacles in the way, including cost-effective batteries that are durable enough to withstand the cold winters in places like Michigan and the extreme heat of places like California and Arizona. With time and patience, though, I’m sure they’ll get it figured out before long.

Are High Gas Prices Really Good for Us?

ford trucksA recent Op-Ed piece in The New York Times said that high gas prices are good for the nation. The writer – Thomas L. Friedman – basically said that Americans have been spoiled for too long and we should keep gas prices high. Apparently, we need to be taught a lesson if you ask Mr. Friedman. Here are a few other highlights from his piece:

• There is no short-term fix for the oil crisis.
Well, I’m sorry to say, but there are many fixes for the oil crisis. Sure, long-term solutions are still a few years away. But we’re letting China drill near our own shores. Why can’t we do offshore drilling?

• Auto dealers offering gas deals are the moral equivalent to tobacco companies marketing toward teenagers.
Huh? First of all, adults are buying the cars and they have every right to make the decision about what type of car they want to buy. If it has a gas deal with it, that’s just a bonus. Who is he to say we shouldn’t be able to buy the cars we want?

• There should be a “price floor” on gasoline to where it won’t drop below $4 a gallon.
Wow! So now this guy is telling us we should never go before $4 a gallon just to “punish” us for our irresponsible use? Who is this guy anyways? He also went on to say that if the price ever drops below that price, the federal government should create a tax that ensures it goes above $4 a gallon for good.

Well, I for one am not falling for it. I’ll drive my Ford trucks until the day I die. And “holier than thou” people like this only make me want to drive it more.

Ford Truck Enthusiasts Unite!

trucksDo you love your Ford truck? If so, you’re in good company. Did you know there are clubs where you can gather with other Ford truck enthusiasts and spend time discussing your favorite truck stories?

Another Ford truck club – the Classic Ford Truck Club – is a more specialized organization for lovers of classic trucks. The members in this club are dedicated to preserving and restoring classic trucks, vans and Broncos. It’s been around since 1994 in Ontario, Canada and has more than 150 current members. There’s even an annual auto show where you can showcase the truck you’ve maintained and “souped up” over the years.
