Four Classic Fords

If you’ve ever owned a Ford, you know that they are some of the most reliable and dependable vehicles on the market. From the days of Henry Ford to the present, Ford vehicles get people where they want to go. Here is a look at four of the most classic Ford cars ever to arrive on the market.

First, consider taking a look at the Ford Thunderbird. The Thunderbird was Ford’s answer to the Corvette. Originally, the Thunderbird was a two-seater convertible, and eventually became available as a four seater and a coupe.

The Ford Galaxie was a classic large Ford vehicle. The Galaxie 500XL featured two doors, and a big-block V8. The convertible, of course, is the most impressive of these.

The Ford Falcon was the car that eventually led to the Mustang. In fact, the engine in the Ford Falcon was the 289, which is the same engine that was found in the Mustang.

Finally, the Ford Fairlane is one of the most prized midsize sedans. This one was made in the 1960s and 60s. The best of these was the GT, featuring a big block V8.

Ford is still making great cars today. Come and see your Omaha Ford dealer and take a look at what Ford is doing now.

Ford Focus is Better than Ever

The Ford Focus has been on the market for nearly a decade now. Originally designed to appeal to a driver who wanted an edgy style and an even edgier driving experience, this car has been a huge success.

In 2008, the Ford Focus was completely redesigned. Ford wanted to keep the Focus competetive, and made some significant changes to the design. While the 2008 and 2009 Ford Focus is similar in many ways under the hood to previous models, Ford did add some horsepower, revised the suspension and, most of all, updated the interior.

And it is that interior change that really makes the 2008 and 2009 Ford Focus shine. The SES trim version of the Focus adds metallic-looking surfaces to the dash. The gauges have white faces and chrome rings, along with blue gauge lighting. The most significant part of the interior, however, is the Sync system developed in partnership with Microsoft. The Sync system interacts with your Bluetooth phone, offers voice command for your digital music player, and does many other multimedia-related tasks.

The Ford Focus is better today than ever, and that’s saying quite a bit. If you want to see the new Ford Focus in action, come and see your Omaha Ford dealer today.

More About the Ford EcoBoost

As we looked at last week, the Ford EcoBoost engine is one of the least expensive ways to improve fuel economy. Ford hopes to make the EcoBoost engine available as an option on 90 percent of its vehicles, giving buyers across the spectrum plenty of options for increasing fuel efficiency.

The EcoBoost will first be introduced in the Ford Flex, the Ford Taurus SHO, as well as the Lincoln MKS and the Lincoln MKT. These midsize sedans and crossover SUVs will get a six cylinder engine with EcoBoost, as an alternative to the V8 model.

It is also expected that the Ford F-150 pickup truck will be offered in 2010 as a six cylinder engine including the EcoBoost technology, as a fuel efficient alternative to the V8 truck.

Not only is fuel economy better with the EcoBoost engine, carbon dioxide emissions are as much as 15 percent lower than a comparable engine.

Using Synthetic Oil In Your Ford Vehicle

When you need to get the oil changed in your Ford vehicle, one of the options you’re going to be presented with is that of synthetic oil. You may not realize it, but synthetic oil has been in use for more than three decades, although it’s really only come into common use in the past 10 years.

Synthetic oil is different from regular motor oil in the way it is produced. Synthetic oil is produced in a lab; it’s man-made. Regular oil is produced in the ground, and refined.

Synthetic oil has an advantage over petroleum-based oil in that it doesn’t have the same degree of contaminants that can be found in crude oil. These contaminants, over time, can build up in one part of your engine and eventually reduce your engine’s life.

Using synthetic oil gives you other benefits, too. Synthetic oil is able to maintain its level of viscosity at much higher engine temps than traditional motor oil. What this means for you is that it’s longer before you need to have your oil changed.

If you’re due for an oil change, consider getting synthetic oil in order to extend the life of your engine and save you money in the long run. Talk to your Omaha Ford dealer about synthetic oil today.

When To Replace Your Ford Timing Belt

The timing belt in your Ford vehicle is an extremely important component. The timing belt helps all of the different parts of your engine to work together at the right time. When your timing belt isn’t working correctly, your engine can malfunction. The results of a bad timing belt can be truly disastrous.

Your timing belt should be inspected around every 10,000 miles of driving. The timing belt is usually found underneath a plastic timing cover, located near the front part of your Ford vehicle’s engine.

You are looking for several different things when you are inspecting your timing belt. For example, you’re looking to see if there are any cracks in the timing belt. You might find a few tiny cracks, and that can be normal. But anything more than just a couple of tiny cracks indicates a problem with the belt.

You’re also going to take a look at the teeth on your timing belt. If any of the teeth are broken, It needs to be replaced right away.

If you don’t see cracks and the teeth in your timing belt are fine, the last thing you are going to do is try to twist the timing belt, to see how much play it has. If it twists more than half a turn, it may be time to replace it.

Choosing A New Ford Vehicle

If you’re in the market for a new Ford vehicle, deciding on exactly the right one can be stressful. YOu want to make sure you have enough car to meet your needs, but you don’t want to buy more car than you can afford. In some cases, you might not even know where to start thinking about what kind of car you want to get.

The best thing to do is to start by considering your needs. Think about the things you’re going to use the vehicle for. Don’t worry, at least initially, about an eye-catching style or the latest gadgets and accessories. Instead, make sure you identify a model that can do what you need it to do.

Here are some important questions to ask when you’re looking for a new car:

  • How many people will be usually riding in the vehicle?
  • What sort of driving do you most often do? Is it city driving or highway driving?
  • How long is your drive to work?
  • How important is gas mileage to you?
  • Do you want an automatic transmission or a manual transmission?
  • Do you need all-wheel drive?
  • What safety features are important to you?
  • Do you need storage space or the ability to carry cargo?
  • Do you need to be able to tow anything with the vehicle?
  • Will the vehicle fit into your garage?

By answering these questions, you’ll be able to narrow down what type of vehicle is the right one for you. If you need help finding the right car for your needs and wants, come see us at your Omaha Ford dealer today.

The Ford EcoBoost Engine is Coming

The Ford EcoBoost engine is at the center of Ford’s overall strategy for sustainability. This revolutionary new design will soon be available on the showroom floors at Ford dealerships, within the next few weeks.

It is a unique combining of direct fuel injection along with a turbo charger that is at the core of the EcoBoost technology. This technology allows Ford vehicles with the EcoBoost engine to get between 10 and 20 percent better fuel efficiency than the same vehicle without the EcoBoost technology.

Vehicles with the EcoBoost technology do cost slightly more than the same vehicle without the EcoBoost technology, however. The good news is that this technology is one of the least expensive ways to improve fuel efficiency, and it will pay for its own additional cost within two years of purchase.
