About Us…

In 1953 a young O.L. “Rusty” Eck purchased the Ford dealership in his home town of Haven, KS. While his competitors looked on with skepticism, Rusty quickly invested in a modern, customer friendly facility-complete with the first central air conditioning in Haven. Through his tireless efforts to satisfy his customers, his business quickly grew.

In 1967, Rusty acquired a location in Valley Center, to make his customer oriented approach more accessible to Wichita residents. Mustangs were America’s favorite car and Wichita had found a new favorite dealer.

In 1969 Rusty built a new state of the art facility at 3901 N Broadway. “Eck Sells for Less!” became the rule that Kansans chose to follow. So much so, that in 1970, Ford supported Rusty’s acquisition of the current location at 7310 E. Kellogg.

With dedicated employees, and room to grow, Rusty set his sights on national prominence. With “ BUSINESS IS GOOD” as the motto, volume selling brought great deals and even higher levels of customer service. In 1972, Fordman was introduced to the buying public. Over the years generations of Kansans have watched Fordman star in the longest running ad campaign in automotive history.Continuing the legacy, in 1997 Les Eck took over as new president and owner. Les brings his 30+ years of experience to help continue the growth and prosperity of Rusty Eck Ford. One of the ways he is doing so is the implementation of the newest technology in the automotive industry. Rusty Eck Ford had more personal computers, workstations, and diagnostic equipment than any dealership in Kansas. To help ensure customer trust and satisfaction, we are committed to providing cutting edge technology to all departments. By doing so, we have raised our customer satisfaction index to the top 10%, which is a very difficult task to achieve and maintain. Foreseeing our customer’s needs, and fulfilling those needs has become a family tradition.

That tradition came from growing up in a farming community where friends and neighbors were important. We try to treat everyone as friends and family, so we know that they are being taken care of. You will always find friendly smiles and helpful people in all of our departments. There’s nothing that you could want that we can’t do or get done for you here at Rusty Eck Ford.

It is interesting to note the many wonderful causes that the Eck Family has supported throughout the years. There is Eck Stadium at Wichita State University; which our college baseball team, fans and supporters has enjoyed for many years. The stadium was largely funded by O.L. “Rusty” Eck. Kansas Newman’s Fine Arts Hall has been the recipient of the Eck’s generosity as well. Rusty Eck Ford has sponsored everything from students, school fundraisers, the catholic community, sporting events for kids, civil groups….the list goes on and on. Rusty Eck Ford has been the winning corporate sponsor for the Susan B. Koman “Race for the Cure” program in 1998 and 1999. This year all funds and donations by Les Eck and Rusty Eck Ford has been put toward the operation of the Via Christi Mammogram mobile supporting screening for breast and prostate cancer. This is a cause that with proper funding and attention will save many lives and prevent many people from becoming victims of cancer. Les and the employees of Rusty Eck Ford have worked endless hours and contributed countless resources to the awareness and prevention of breast and prostate cancer. Rusty’s involvement in the community and charities and Les’s continuation is their way of saying thank you to the people of Wichita and surrounding areas for their 49 wonderful years in business.
