Auto Review: 2011 Ford Mustang V6 Convertible

The Ford Mustang has gone through as many makeovers as the pop star Madonna and has just as many fans, or more. The 2011 Ford Mustang V6 Convertible is one cool car and if you’re lucky you’ll get your chance to touch it like a virgin.

2011 Ford Mustang V6 Convertible

Mention convertible in some circles and you’ll see heads spin, mouths drop and water and skirts fly up to the knees. That’s because there’s just something sexy about a convertible, whether it’s Brad Pitt driving, Cindy Crawford or an Uncle Kracker wannabe. But if that convertible is a Ford Mustang – pick a year – then it’s over-the-top sexy. The 2011 model is beyond the scope.

The standard engine is a 3.7-liter V6. It carries a 6-speed manual drivetrain and 6 cylinders and carries with it 305 horsepower at 6,500 rpm. For fuel efficiency, you’ll see 18 mpg in the city and 29 on the highway. Now you feel like taking that road trip to California? Even with an achin’ in your heart you’ll be the king of the road.

The gas engine also features sequential electronic fuel injection, sequential port fuel injected sequential and multi-port fuel injection.

As a Mustang the vehicle offers impressive room in a 4-passenger seater. Not exactly the big family car, but Mustang has never been that. However, it offers 53.4 inches of hip room and 38.8 inches of head room in the front. Leg room for front passengers is 42.4 inches. Rear passengers don’t get quite as much room, but for a sports car they’ll have plenty.

The braking system features all the best of the latest technology with traction control and 4-wheel anti-lock brakes. The same goes for the safety and security features. The top is a power soft convertible and is easy to let up and down, but I think you’ll prefer it down on most days.

If you’re ready to soup up your driving without spending a fortune – the 2011 Ford Mustang V6 Convertible has an MSRP of $27,145 – then I suggest next year’s Mustang. This is an automobile that just seems to keep getting better with age.

Auto Review: 2011 Ford Taurus SEL

Ford SYNC
Ford revolutionized driving when the automaker introduced the SYNC system a couple years ago. Today, that system is still going strong and it is one of the most popular features car buyers look for when buying a new car. The SYNC system offers handy features like a vehicle health report, real-time traffic reports, audible text messages, hands-free calling and so much more. It is a Because it is mainly voice-controlled, the Ford Sync is also a great safety feature to have on your 2010 Ford Focus Coupe.

Safety
According to U.S. News and World Report Rankings and Reviews, the 2010 Ford Focus Coupe gets an 8.3, or “Very Good,” when it comes to safety. In federal crash test ratings, this car does very well. The 2009 model was given a “Top Safety Pick” by the insurance industry. However, the 2010 model has not completed its safety rating test, but it should get a top honor as well. The new MyKey System, another Ford innovation, comes standard on the 2010 Ford Focus Coupe and has parents raving about its safety. The system does not allow the vehicle to go above 80 miles per hour and it disables the radio or audio when the seatbelts are not fastened. It also creates a loud chime once the vehicle reaches 45, 55 and 65 miles per hour. As a result, parents love the MyKey system for the teen drivers.

Performance
The 2010 Ford Focus Coupe is not exactly the fastest or most powerful car in its segment, but it does get great gas mileage to make up for that. With a 2.0-liter engine with only four cylinders, you won’t be squealing away from the stop lights but you will get 24 miles to the gallon in the city and upwards of 35 miles per gallon on the highways. That’s a good exchange for extreme horsepower. But don’t take our word for it. Visit your Omaha area Ford dealers today and take one for a test drive. You will see that the reviews people are posting are not exaggerated!

2010 Ford Explorer Sport Trac Review

There’s a common truck driver Catch-22 – if the truck is big enough, the driving experience is lousy, but if the truck handles well and gets great mileage, there’s no space to haul in the bed or the backseat. The 2010 Ford Explorer Sport Trac manages to eliminate the problem with a midsize pickup that’s half SUV. The roomy enclosed cabin and independent rear suspension make this truck comfortable in every way to drive, and the interior is far more enjoyable than most trucks with power accessories, AC, CD player, satellite radio, and auxiliary jack. The 4.0-liter V6 with 210 hp and 254 lb-ft of torque puts out plenty of power, with the option for a 4.6-liter V8 at 292 hp and 315 lb-ft. Catch-22 of power vs. function solved. VIEW INVENTORY.

There’s a common truck driver Catch-22 – if the truck is big enough, the driving experience is lousy, but if the truck handles well and gets great mileage, there’s no space to haul in the bed or the backseat. The 2010 Ford Explorer Sport Trac manages to eliminate the problem with a midsize pickup that’s half SUV, which makes the interior roomy and capable of carrying tons of cargo, but leaves the driving experience smooth and effortless. For those who want it all, the Ford Explorer Sport Trac is one of the only vehicles that solves this problem effortlessly, in a beautifully designed package.

The design is half SUV, half pickup, with four full doors instead of the dinky little half-doors that you see on most trucks. Those doors are usually a fair indication of the amount of legroom a passenger has to put up with inside – about a third of an average-sized seat, which is uncomfortable for anyone but small children. On the Ford Explorer Sport Trac, those seats are fully extended with plenty of legroom and extremely comfortable design, which means you can actually seat four adults comfortably, with a child or a smaller fifth adult in the middle rear seat.

You’d think that giving so much space to the passengers would rob the Ford Explorer Sport Trac of its cargo and carrying capacity, but you’d be wrong. The cargo bed is smaller than your average pickup’s, but it’s extremely wide and roomy, with a 4.5-foot utility box. If you need even more room for cargo and don’t happen to be carrying extra passengers that day, the Sport Trac actually allows you to extend your carrying capacity by putting down the 60/40 split rear seats to make another flat cargo area for anything that wouldn’t fit in the bed.

The argument over which is more important, cargo or passenger space, has proponents on either side who clearly haven’t hear that the Sport Trac is the solution to all their woes. Those two camps agree on one thing, though – power is still the most important factor in both trucks and SUVs. So what does the Ford Explorer Sport Trac have under the hood?

The answer to that question should put any remaining qualms to rest. The Sport Trac comes standard with a 4.0-liter V6 that puts out 210 horsepower and 254 lb-ft of torque, with a five-speed automatic transmission that shifts through the gears easily and effortlessly. The drive itself is as quiet and smooth as you could want, even with the huge capacity of the Sport Trac. It accelerates from 0 to 60 in a little more than 8 seconds, and can tow up to 7,160 lbs. The fuel economy is pretty darn decent too, getting 20 mpg on the highway.

Cargo capacity + lots of passenger room + power = the 2010 Ford Explorer Sport Trac. It’s an equation no one else seems to have mastered, but that’s all right. Just so long as Ford’s doing the smart math so you can get the vehicle that you want.

And you can get it at your favorite Omaha Ford dealer right here at Rusty Eck.

The new 2010 Ford Taurus SHO is certainly attracting quite the buzz for the Ford Motor Company since it has been traveling around the country to be shown at auto shows. The “SHO” part of the car’s moniker comes from the sport sedan’s first badge and Ford has brought it back in a new and exciting way.

The 2010 Ford Taurus SHO has been redesigned from the Taurus that your parents knew. The new Taurus is going back to the days when this sedan demanded respect and attention because of its design and drivability. With a 365 horsepower twin-turbo EcoBoost V6 engine, it’s promising to be one of the best selling vehicles of its model year. The new generation also includes AWD and a number of upgrades that are going to bring buyers to the showroom just to check out the newest features.

The acronym “SHO” used to stand for Super High Output when it was used with the younger generations of the Taurus. Those words definitely ring true for this model which has a horsepower output that is 145-hp higher than the first few generations of the Taurus.

Visit your Omaha area Ford dealer to find out much more about the 2010 Taurus. You may just find yourself wanting to buy one before you leave the showroom!
