Why Risk Your Safety? Go with a Ford

2010 has not been been kind to both Toyota and Honda. Both automakers are having a tough time keeping drivers safe in their vehicles. Both Toyota and Honda have had major recalls in the past few weeks, with the most notable belonging to Toyota for their sticky gas pedals. With this being said, we want to note that we are not trying to scare consumers into buying Ford vehicles.

Here at Rusty Eck Ford of Omaha, we simply want to make consumers aware of some of the issues going on with Toyota and Honda vehicles. Both automakers are quality competitors and we are sure they will bounce back. With that said, if you’re currently in the market for a new car or truck, you may want to check out an American automobile like Ford. There are a lot of great new Ford vehicles coming to market in 2010, like the 2010 Ford Focus Coupe.

Toyota 2010 Recall, Buy a Ford

Jay Leno Bringing Electric Ford Cars to Your Living Room

Leno is essentially bringing these cars into your living room at 10 p.m. every night (or whenever his show is aired in your area).

Electric Focus 1

It’s no secret that Jay Leno is a fan about cars. He has a garage full of vehicles from Detroit’s heyday and before and even many that have been produced in recent years. He designed the Green Car Challenge in an effort to educate people about some of the newer alternatively-fueled vehicles that automakers are making these days.

The electric Ford Focus is one of the cars he uses on the course which is about 1,400 feet long. Ford plans to release a vehicle similar to the one Leno is using by 2011.

Ford’s New Taurus is Charging On

Ford’s new generation of the Taurus is surely something to behold. The 2010 version is back with a vengeance sporting a new look and even more features than before!

The Ford Motor Company is hoping the 2010 Taurus will be just as popular (if not more popular) than the 1986 version when it took the place of the year’s top seller over the Honda Accord. The 2010 version has an entirely different appearance on the outside to make a good first impression with its distinction and handsomeness. But that’s not all there is to the new Taurus.

The 2010 Taurus has the same base price as the 2009 version. Standard equipment for the new model includes a leather-wrapped steering wheel, wood accents, a completely adjustable driver’s seat with a memory feature and a state-of-the-art sound system that will blow others away when you’re stopped at a red light. As far as options, drivers will appreciate a voice-activated navigation system, a power moon roof, massaging front seats and all-wheel drive for easier and safer driving in the winter months.

Ford Developing New System for Safe Texting

While many states are making texting and driving at the same time illegal, the Ford Motor Company is working on a way to make the practice safe – a voice-to-text system.

A voice-to-text system would allow the driver to say what they want to say and the device would turn the words into a text that they could send to whomever they needed. This would allow the driver to keep their eyes on the road and their hands on the wheel so they would not be distracted from the most important task at hand.

“A voice-recognition approach is better than brining in a piece of paper and unfolding a map or looking down at a mobile device,” said Jim Buczkowski, the director of electronics at Ford Motor Company. “We’re looking at various combinations of accomplishing that task because it’s being asked for by consumers.”

Ford supports the latest texting legislation that has been making its way around the country which includes a provision that states would lose 25 percent of highway aid if they didn’t ban the common practice of reading or writing text messages while driving. However, Ford does not support bans on hands-free devices.

Details are still somewhat sketchy about price and when this device will be available. With all the laws being passed in recent months, though, this will prove to be a popular device for Ford drivers who love to text and be texted.

“I’ve done 1,380 miles in a day,” Schaub said in an interview with the northern California newspaper. “I just figured 1,100 miles a day is the key number, and I should be able to do it, providing I don’t have a breakdown or a tornado to slow me down.” He also said he plans on driving between 16 and 18 hours a day to accomplish the task.

The trek is scheduled to end in Hyder, Alaska after driving 9,800 miles. The event is going to benefit the Ronald McDonald House charity in Stanford, California as people have been asked to donate a penny for each mile that he drives. So far, he has raised more than $70,000 for the charity.

Crossover Convenience and Hybrid Efficiency

If you want the convenience of a compact crossover SUV but don’t want to break the bank every time you hit the gas pump, you should take a look at the 2010 Ford Escape Hybrid. This vehicle offers the best of both worlds, giving you great Ford quality and performance along with amazing fuel economy.

The 2010 Ford Escape Hybrid gets an amazing 30 miles to the gallon. What’s especially amazing about this number is that it does so without sacrificing power. This vehicle has more power than you’d expect, by far.

This new model year offers some specific improvements to the Ford Escape hybrid. It adds an integrated blind spot mirror as standard equipment. You can also add a rearview camera, increased features for the Sync system, a feature called “MyKey” that allows parents to be able to limit both the speed and the volume of the audio for teen drivers, and even a feature that helps you parallel park.

Check out the Ford Escape Hybrid today at your local Omaha Ford dealer. you’ll be very glad you did.

Ford Tops Hybrid Sedans

You might be surprised to find that the best fuel mileage available in a hybrid sedan doesn’t come from a Toyota or even a Honda. Nope, bragging rights go to Ford and Mercury. The 2010 Ford Fusion Hybrid and its corporate sibling the 2010 Mercury Milan Hybrid have achieved the best rankings for fuel economy in their class.

The ford Fusion Hybrid is a five passenger sedan that gets a whopping 41 miles to the gallon in the city and 36 miles per gallon on the highway. This beats out the 2010 Toyota Camry by several miles per gallon, as the Camry comes in at 33 miles per gallon in the city and 34 on the highway.

While Toyota’s Prius and Honda’s Insight are tops in the hatchback category, the Fusion and the Milan offer more rear seat passenger space and don’t have the lack of privacy that a hatchback tends to give.

Perhaps best of all, the 2010 Ford Fusion doesn’t look like a hybrid. Instead, it looks like a modern, stylish sedan, in spite of its amazing fuel mileage.

If you want to get the style and size of a sedan but the fuel economy of a hybrid, look no further than your Omaha Ford dealer to check out a 2010 Ford Fusion.
